The Staffordshire Moorlands Volunteer Centre operates as a volunteer's "job-centre".

Voluntary organisations throughout North Staffordshire provide us with information on their current activities and voluntary opportunities so that we can effectively match the interests and skills of volunteers with those organisations needing help.

Why Volunteer?

The great thing about volunteering is that everyone can offer something!
It doesn't matter what time you have to offer - an hour a month or two days a week - there is always a suitable opportunity to be found.

Volunteering is a great way of meeting new people, learning new skills and trying something completely different. Take on a new challenge and you never know - you may even unearth a talent that you didn't know you had!

Being a volunteer can help boost your confidence, provide a sense of achievement and help you gain experience in a new field. It can even be a source of reference for that all important job!

I   Are you aged 16 - 25?  Interested in gaining new skills?

The Staffordshire Moorlands Volunteer Centre can help you try out a range of different volunteering opportunities through one-day taster sessions.

from advice giving to bird monitoring, museum steward to gardeners, counsellors to shop workers, mentors to decorators, tutors to dry stone wallers.... volunteering can work for you!

Three easy ways to volunteer:

1.  All of the local voluntary opportunities are available to search through online on the national volunteering database www.do-it.org.uk

Simply enter your postcode and areas of interest and the database will bring up all relevant opportunities in your local area. You can then register your email address to receive further information on any opportunities that are of interest.

2.  Call either of our offices for further help or information. If you can provide us with an idea of the type of voluntary work you are looking for - we can send out an information pack for you as a starter on becoming a volunteer.

Please call our Leek office on (t) 01538 398240
Please call our Biddulph office on (t) 01782 523397

3. You are welcome to call in and browse the database at either of our offices.  Please check our opening days and times as our Volunteer Development Workers are often out and about visiting local organisations or promoting volunteering.
