  Voluntary Transport Service

The Service:

SMCVS's Voluntary Transport Service provides volunteer drivers, using their own cars, to offer transport for those in need in the Leek & Moorlands area.

Eligibility:

You are eligible to use the Voluntary Transport Service if: 

  • you are unable to use public transport

  • you have no private vehicle available

Purpose:

The service can be used to take you to:

  • Shop / Personal business appointments

  • Visit friends / relations in hospital / Nursing Homes etc

  • Day Care facilities / luncheon clubs etc

  • Health related appointments at: dentist / doctor / chiropody / hospital outpatients etc

  • Social / Recreational activities

Availability:

Every effort is made to provide a service but it depends on the availability of volunteers so please give as much notice as possible for your journey.

Cost:

You will be asked to make a contribution towards the driver's expenses. This is based on mileage. Examples of current charges -

Under 3 miles: £2.50  (minimum charge)
5 - 5.9 miles £3.35
10 - 10.9 miles £4.70
15 - 15.9 miles £6.75
20 - 24.9 miles £10.40
