The Rural Access Grant
What is the Rural Access Grant? Part of the Staffordshire Rural Access to Services Partnership funded by Advantage West Midlands is a small grants fund to improve access to services for those living in rural areas of Staffordshire. What is the Grant for? Applications are invited for projects that will improve some aspect of access in rural areas, for example: · Improve access to services and facilities · Assist people to find or retain employment · Improved information including the utilisation of technology · Extension of existing access schemes, these can include transport · New or improved access infrastructure, including supporting businesses · Training · New or improved equipment which helps to promote access Who can apply? Funding is available to any organisation, voluntary group, community group, transport providers, parish councils, and the private sector working within the RASP Northern Area (as shown below)F
u Up to £1000 funding can be applied for relating to any one project. Larger amounts up to £3000 may be granted, but only where projects are particularly well matched to the aims and objectives of the RASP. When can I apply? The fund will be administered on a first come first served basis each financial year, so the sooner you submit an application, the more likely it is to receive funding. How do we apply? If you think your project would improve some aspect of access to services in rural Staffordshire, then please contact Alex Clarke at the Rural Access to Services Partnership at SMCVS on 01538 398689 or email: alexclark@smcvs.co.uk who will be happy to talk through your idea. The grant is open for applications from 1st April 2008. Application forms will be available on this site or to post out from the new financial year. Who decides if the project qualifies for funding? A local Grants panel from the public voluntary and community sectors will consider the completed applications and decide on whether to approve or reject the projects. What happens next? If your project is approved, grants will be paid against proof of expenditure. For more information on any aspect of The Rural Access Grant, please contact: Alex Clark or phone 01538 398689
