SMCVS is a member organisation that looks after the needs of the local voluntary and community sector.

We provide these core services to our members:

Support - through the provision of information, advice, training and consultancy.

Advice & Information - on everything from how to set up a voluntary or community group to how to get charitable status and where to apply for  funding.

The CVS publishes a monthly community newsletter and a Health and Social Care Newsletter, which is distributed to a wide network.

Co-ordination - by encouraging and facilitating the exchange of information and opinion among voluntary groups.

Representation - by encouraging the voluntary sector to articulate their views in the most effective way and, where appropriate, representing those views to other organisations ie: statutory bodies and national voluntary bodies.

CRB Disclosure - for member organisations and local community support groups to undertake appropriate disclosure requests from the Criminal Records Bureau.

Resources - by providing meeting rooms, equipment, office services and the production of publicity material etc, at very low rates.
