The Early Detection of Cancer project is funded by NHS North Staffordshire, to increase public knowledge of the early signs of breast, bowel and lung cancer.
The project aims to increase awareness and encourage the uptake of screening tests and encourage local people to contact their GP if they are experiencing symptoms, to increase early diagnosis and treatment.
Events
The Cancer Awareness Team will be at Newcastle Library 16th to 21st July, offering information on the signs and symptoms of Breast, Bowel and Lung Cancer.

You could be a life saver. Be a volunteer!
Anyone over the age of 18 can volunteer for the EDCP project. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and volunteer in a variety of roles to help promote the early signs and symptoms of cancer:
Events Volunteer:
Be the front of our campaign at our local community events. Provide a friendly face and information to the public about the early signs and symptoms of breast, bowel and lung cancer.
Events Booker:
Be the ears to the ground for our campaign, researching and booking stands and promotional opportunities.
Presentation Volunteer:
Be the front of our campaign in delivering presentations to local community groups, organisations and businesses.
Administrator:
Support the project in everything from collating vital statistics to preparing marketig materials ready for the presentations.
If you would like to meet new people, increase your confidence and improve your CV and job prospects then volunteering with the EDCP is for you. We will pay your out of pocket expenses and the project provides one-to-one support from our Volunteer Support Worker and access to peer support groups - as well as the opportunity to take part in wider regional health-related events if you wish to.
