Funding Application Tips

Funding Application AdviceWe can offer suggestions as to which funds are most suitable for you to apply to and can then support you through the application process.

 

However, the following guidance will help you in completing the majority of funding applications.

 

Choosing your funder:


     - Firstly check if you fit the funder’s criteria
     - Ensure that you understand your funder and their work
     - Ensure that you understand the application process
     - Don’t be afraid to contact the funder to ask questions.
 

 

Selling your project – writing well:


     - Use the proactive voice, rather than the passive
     - Avoid the use of jargon
     - Spell out in full any acronyms you have used 
     - Keep it simple and answer the questions that are asked
     - Be specific. Try to avoid generalisations
     - Say what you mean.

 

Setting project costs:


     - Be realistic with your costs
     - Remember to include ALL relevant costs
     - Remember to include overheads (visit http://fullcostrecovery.org.uk/).
     - Illustrate value for money by including the unit cost
     - Check that the figures add up!
