Staffordshire Moorlands Community & Voluntary Services (SMCVS) is an independent voluntary organisation set up to support and work with local voluntary and community organisations. We cover the Staffordshire Moorlands area and work in partnership with our sister organisations who cover other local areas.
Our main purpose is to support, promote and develop voluntary action in the community. We are funded from a mixture of sources (including grants) and from statutory bodies, project funding and Trust Funds. We are a membership organisation.
We are a registered charity (number 1079126) and a company limited by guarantee (company number 3875010).
SMCVS is a Council for Voluntary Service (CVS). A CVS is an independent local voluntary organisation with a voluntary management committee made up of representatives from local organisations. We employ both paid staff and volunteers. We are part of a national network of over 230 other CVS.
We are a member of the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Consortium of Infrastructure Organisations (SCIO) and work with them to ensure the voice of the local sector is heard more widely. For more information about county-wide services, please visit SCIO’s website:
